Academics at HGE |
At Hialeah Gardens Elementary, teachers and administration push to find innovative solutions to challenges we see. By bringing academic events, providing students opportunities to succeed, and finding a way to reach each and every student, we believe that HGE is truly a hidden gem.

"Poor Teddy" Author visits HGEIn February of 2020, first and second grade students at Hialeah Gardens Elementary had the opportunity to meet and sit with the author of Poor Teddy, Lisa DePriest. Poor Teddy is a realistic fiction book about a dog that gets adopted at the dog shelter. The author read the book to the students and students were able to complete an activity with the author as well! The author and the students discussed the genre and what it meant. What a great experience for our Dolphins!

March is very special time for literacy. Dr. Seuss' birthday is in March. "Read Across America" week in launched in March and "Early Literacy Week" is also in March. Naturally, we like to host our "Read Under the Stars Event" during March too!
During this event, teachers and students (along with friends and family) come together to read short stories and chapters of books and enjoying each other's company. During March of 2020, we were lucky enough to have an author visit our event! We couldn't be more thankful to have Andrew Toffoli come out and speak to our students and parents! Incredible. |
