Student Mental Health

The Mental Health Services team's  Mission is to promote students' social-emotional and academic well-being through the provision of the highest quality, comprehensive, and evidence-based mental health services at school and in our community.

The Mental Health Services team's Vision is to provide mental health and wellness-focused services that promote our student's social-emotional development, prevent the development of mental health challenges and address social-emotional problems that currently exist.

Miami Dade County Public Schools' Department of Mental Health Services was established in July 2018 to enhance the coordination of District and community resources to deliver evidence-based mental health care for students.

Parents,
This is a new experience for all of us, but it can be difficult for children to cope with what is going on right now during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Students who are exhibiting signs of extreme stress or fear should be referred to the school counselor or outside agencies for support and counseling. It is recommended that parents attempt to limit their child's media exposure to the ongoing pandemic. Children should be encouraged to continue with normal routines as much as possible and be reassured that everyone is doing their very bes to keep them safe and healthy.
